Most of the government services and agencies are run by the County and this includes the El Dorado County Office of Economic Development. El Dorado Hills is served by three school districts: Buckeye Union School District, Rescue Union School District and El Dorado Union High School District. El Dorado Hills is unique in that the school districts are divided based on the power lines that run through the community. Buckeye is south of the power lines and Rescue is north of the power lines. The El Dorado Hills community has one high school, Oak Ridge High School.

Buckeye Union School District
Buckeye Union School District includes five elementary schools, one Montessori and two middle schools. It is the mission of the district to provide the highest quality of educational programs for all students so they fulfill their innate potential to become lifelong learners and contribute to society as responsible citizens.
Kindergarten through fifth grade students in El Dorado Hills attend either William Brooks School, 3610 Park Drive, Oakmeadow Elementary School, Silva Valley Pkwy, or Silva Valley School, 3001 Golden Eagle Lane. Silva Valley is a year-round school.
Sixth through eighth graders attend Rolling Hills School, 7141 Silva Valley Parkway.

Rescue Union School District
Rescue Union School District has an enrollment of 3,250 students at five elementary schools and two middle schools. The district enjoys an outstanding reputation for quality teachers, academic excellence, high standards and parental involvement.
The new school Lakeview Elementary School opened in October 2005.
The community has supported the district with a $27 million bond measure to build a multipurpose room at Jackson School, remodel classroom at Rescue School and build a new campus at the Green Valley Site. The new school that opened in 2005 is Rescue Elementary School, Green Valley Road.
Rescue District schools serving Kindergarten through fifth grade students are at Jackson School, 2561 Francisco Drive and Lake Forest School, 2240 Salisbury Drive (offering year-round curriculum) and Rescue Elementary School. The middle schools are Marina Village School, 1901 Francisco Drive, and Pleasant Grove Middle School at 2540 Green Valley Road.

Oak Ridge High School
High school students attend Oak Ridge High School, 1120 Harvard Way. They can also attend Charter Community School, 6767 Green Valley Road in Placerville or Independence Continuation High School, 2227 Pleasant Valley Road in Diamond Springs.
